Our faith: what it means to be Christian

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text][child_pages cols=”1″ id=”23″ skin=”simple” list=”true”][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Much is spoken about what being a Christian means, and perhaps that’s not surprising since spirituality is an essential part of our lives, and deeply important to us, but the many points of view can be over-whelming and often be a hindrance rather than a help.

The best place to start is with Jesus, and we find out about him through reading the Bible. He made it clear that what we needed to do was try and follow his example of the way he lived his life; everything he did can be summed up by ‘love’. He asks us to love God and to love everyone else. Loving anyone, God or otherwise, depends on us building up a rela-tionship with them, which is what Christians try to do. Our relationship with God is built through prayer and worship. It is strengthened through his response to our prayer. Our relationship with others is built through offering the love that people need. If we follow Jesus’ example this takes us into some of the most needy places in the world. All this relationship building is to reflect the love of God; it is God’s greatest desire that eve-ryone should experience his love.

Today however, in our busy lives, and amongst all our possessions , God can seem like a complete irrelevance. Why do we need a remote supernatural figure when we have all we need here?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
